S/V Andromeda is a 2002 Thailand based Dean 440 catamaran for sale by owner

This Boat Owner requires financial settlement only ... trades will not be considered!!

S/V Andromeda is a 2002 Thailand based Dean 440 catamaran for sale by owner. She is custom designed and was launched in Cape Town, South Africa in 2002. We sailed her for 16 years in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean. She has served us well over the years. Without a doubt, she's a great cruising catamaran.

Previously, I had bought a used Dean Cat in 2001, and quite liked the design and layout, but after six months of sailing found many areas for modification and improvement. I negotiated with Peter Dean to build me a new cat with 70+ changes and improvements. Some large, and some small, for example, cherry/maple interior in hulls and saloon, which gives it a very warm and welcoming feel. Many of the improvements became standard on future Dean catamarans.

She has 4 cabins and 3 heads (see the walk through video below) and a spacious galley with lots of working space (Corian counter tops). The stove has 4 burners, gas oven, and she has a large 120l fridge + 120l freezer and a microwave. The salon has lots of headroom and has a lounge sofa/dinner table function (table goes up and down). Tables in saloon and cockpit move down to seating area to create 2 more large sleeping areas - very convenient for long passages and more guest accommodation. Navigation station with instruments and collapsible laptop table, cabinets and easy access to steering/cockpit instruments. The Engine rooms are below aft berths with easy access for maintenance (also houses generator and water heater). Insect screens for all hatches and ports (incl. saloon and galley).

There are custom built 2 large forward hatches in salon for good visibility. The cockpit is both large and comfy with lounge sofa/dinner table function (table goes up and down). The navigation station is in the salon and there is a work station in port hull with lots of storage space inside. Overall, tons of storage space for sails and toys in 9 outside lockers and a custom built targo wing with extra solar panels and surf board rack , also a live bait locker.

We’ve continued to improve and meticulously maintain her over the last 16 years. During the last six years a great number of things have been replaced or improved including all standing rigging, sails, canvas cockpit cover and stack pack, all cushions and mattresses, batteries (now lithium ion), inverter charger, three stage regulator, windlass, SSB, VHF, AIS, new salon windows, and much more! She looks and is like a fairly new boat.

Andromeda is currently on the hard in Phuket, Thailand. We are back on the boat and will sail her between Thailand and Langkawi, Malaysia for November and December 2019. If interested we’re more than happy to show her, and take you out for a spin so you can see yourself how enjoyable and easy it is to sail her, even single-handed.

We’ll be moving back to our home, so she comes fully equipped, ready to sail away: with linens, towels, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, containers, tools, a large inventory of spares, and large emergency medical supply, etc...

And if you want, also three scuba sets, surfboards, SUP, fishing rods and tackle, and more. Explore the world with all comforts of home!!
