23' Hirondelle Family 2 - For Sale  - asking price $22,000
Hirondelle for sale Hirondelle for sale
Owned by Neale Ensign, who some of you may know, was one of the first to circumnavigate sailing a catamaran (have you read his book?). Neale traded in his tried and true Prout for this 23' Hirondelle Family 2, and has now decided to sell S/V "Psyche". The boat is located in Melbourne, Florida

23' Hirondelle Family 2- The Hirondelle Family was born as a result of a Hirondelle Mk III owner, David Trotter, and the original designer Chris Hammond, modifying the Mk III moulds in the early 1990's. The most important differences were a wider beam (about 600mm extra), more freeboard (allowing more comfort in the cabin), the starboard forward berth was removed and replaced by a larger functional galley, the heads became much bigger and even able to sport a shower, the rudders were under slung (enabling "sugar scoop" transoms to be used), and windows were installed over the quarter berths. A major improvement in space was also achieved by the new bridge deck nacelle, which allowed more foot room at the central table. Large double in saloon and large single berths in port and starboard aft hulls. Galley with gas cooker, sink. Heads compartment with sea water toilet, washbasin.

This particular boat was built for performance and has the very expensive Aerorig spar / rotating mast option. With the Aerorig she not only points higher and is easier to sail but she also has a 1-2 knot speed advantage over the conventional sloop rig. This boat is fast. Contact Neale by Clicking Here
