The leopard 40, built in South Africa by Robertson and Caine have an excellent reputation. They were designed by Morelli & Melvin, naval architects, who are specialists of prestigious multihulls, including the America Cup boats. The Leopard 40, thanks to its sleek design is fast and easy-to-maneuver when single-handed. Her winches are ingeniously placed near the helm for easy handling.

The Galley is practical with large cabinets for storage and a countertop which facilitates the passage of dishes at the table in the cockpit. Dining accommodates eight people sitting comfortably, while leaving free access to the cockpit. The cockpit transitions to aft steps to the water. In order to ensure the safety of very young passengers while in navigation a small gate is planned to close this access. The Lifeline Stanchions were equipped with nets for the same reason.

On the bridge of each side of the mast wide steps facilitate access to the roof of the cockpit and serve as benches comfortable as well as an effective Bimini, without affecting helm visibility.

S/V MAIKEM was purchased in Koh Samui from the charter company Sunsail in 2013. Because of her complete design, the Leopard 40 was the logical choice in catamarans, as they were named boat of the year in 2005 based on their on space/price /performance. We then sailed the boat to Phuket where a refit performed by professionals was completed. Much of the boat systems / equipment was replaced or added. Two months later we sailed as a family and with friends in the South Seas with a ship almost new, and we have thoroughly enjoyed life on board.

S/V Maikem has been carefully maintained and is ready to sail towards new horizons and the joy of its new owners. This boat is a very good opportunity, because our son's schooling has become our priority, our decision to return to Europe has been made.
