S/V Quazami is a 2004 Knysna 440 Catamaran in sail away condition, equipped for the cruising lifestyle and ready for blue water crossing. She was extensively upgraded in 2021 and then sailed from South Africa to the Caribbean in 2022 by the current owner and his family of 5, who comfortably live aboard. With 1190w of solar Quazami is energy self-sufficient and can be taken to remote locations, without the need to ever go into marinas. She can comfortably sleep up to 7 people. Quazami has only ever had two owners and has never been in charter.

Designed by renowned naval architect Angelo Lavranos, the Knysna 440 is an improved version of the legendary St Francis 44.  She has been built to a high standard by the Knysna Yachting Company, who prides itself on its reputation within the industry for producing high quality, fast yachts that are able to safely and comfortably cross oceans. Deliberately keeping production numbers low enables Knysna to pay attention to detail without ever compromising on safety.  Some examples of this attention to detail include:

  • The prismatic shape of her hulls enable her to glide quickly and effortlessly through the water.
  • The mid ship engines mean the heaviest objects are at the centre of the yacht, helping to minimise hobby horsing and making it great to manoeuvre under power.
  • The Resin Scott Bader Airex foam core means the hull is both strong and light weight, whilst the low bridge deck reduces windage and side slipping.
  • The sharp, elegant bows are reinforced for structural stiffness, especially desirable in the punishing Southern Ocean.
  • The stiffness is over-engineered with a massive cross-deck section and longitudinal double beam spreading from mid-ships to the bow and separating the two trampolines.

The Knysna Yacht Company is based in Knysna, (the K is silent), famed for the dangerous entrance to the lagoon known as the Knysna Heads, and being situated on the East Coast of South Africa on the Indian Ocean.  These yachts are tried and tested in some of the world’s most challenging sea conditions.

Quazami is a performance Catamaran and her sailing abilities have been tried and tested again and again, having safely crossed the Atlantic Ocean just a year ago and then cruised around the Caribbean Islands since.

Quazami is currently in St Martin and will be sailing to the BVIs around 22/23 March.
