S/V Tyga is a 2014 Lagoon 39 catamaran, for sale by owner. I bought it brand new from the factory in France. Notably larger than the Lagoon 38, she was the perfect boat for me. With me, my family and friends sailed her for nine wonderful years. Six in Europe (four months per year) and after sailing the Atlantic, three in the West Indies.

After a 45-year career as an Alaskan commercial fishing captain in the Bering Sea, I love this boat and trust her to carry me safely anywhere in the world. She was always stored on the hard, all canvas removed, or wrapped, and halyards, sheets and any exposed lines buried away from the sun.

The new owner will get a solid and well maintained boat because, as a commercial fishing captain, I cannot afford things breaking or unmaintained. I proactively repair, rebuild or replace anything needing attention.

The Lagoon 39 is an evolution in design with the stylish “visor” look, all black wrap around windows, and a look of forward motion even sitting at the dock. Hull features vertical beveled bows, a beveled deck off the hull and a chine on each of the outboard aft hulls. The patented gull wing underbody makes for less deck slap and a movement of water away from the craft.

Tyga has three cabins and two heads. Tyga can sleep eight, but six is a more comfortable number in my opinion. I bought Tyga with all of the luxury options and even made customizations of my own. She does not have a generator or air conditioning. But with trade winds, excellent wind catching hatches and many quiet cabin fans, I have never felt the need for more cooling.

I’m presently sailing her in the Bahamas, bound for Fort Lauderdale early May.
