Huge price reduction to $1,475,000. Bring serious offers!

The Moxie 61 TOSCA was created to bring cruisers what racers have enjoyed for years: fast, safe, no-compromise sailing. With one extra twist: sailing in luxury.

TOSCA offers an impeccable pedigree and luxurious appointments in an ultra-light, all-carbon construction. Safe, user-friendly, and featuring ocean-tested solutions, TOSCA reflects VPLP’s 25 year history of record-setting designs. With lines that spell speed and elegance, TOSCA is a world-class multihull for all sailors – monohull racers, luxury cruisers, and anyone seeking high performance, comfort, and safety at sea.

With numerous performance, bluewater catamarans on offer in today’s market, how does one distinguish between another polyester production cat and a Stradivarius. Quality of construction, materials, design features, equipment, volume, amenities?

An all carbon-epoxy over core-cell foam construction, TOSCA sails with the best of the very high performance catamarans. She is equipped with a rotating carbon wing mast, all textile standing rigging, carbon dagger-boards and rudders. VPLP developed hull shapes for the Moxie 61 directly from the ORMA 60 class. The mast is placed on the aft salon beam to optimize weight placement and create a large foretriangle for powerful headsails.

The distinctive, beam to beam (TEUG) coach-roof design expands the interior space and headroom. TOSCA has salon, cabin, bathroom volumes and headroom that rival cruising cats from France and Poland in this size range. Huge, tempered glass windows at the front of the salon provide unobstructed views forward.

Over the last three years, the yacht has been continuously improved with a priority to comfort and practicality. Helm seats with generous binnacle mounts for plotters and instruments were installed. Folding biminis were placed over the helm seats. Handholds were added around the coach-roof and steps were lengthened to facilitate safe movement on deck. A full cockpit enclosure (isenglass) was fitted for all weather protection in the cockpit. Recently, all canvas was replaced including mainsail cover, winch covers. The salon and cockpit upholstery is all new.

An 8KVA generator was added to run large AC consumers: battery chargers and inverters, air-conditioning, water-maker, electric winches. The entire 24V system was refitted with new toggle switch breakers to back-up the digital switches.

The electronics were upgraded with new B&G plotters at each helm and the chart table. New fuel bladders were fitted and the water tanks consolidated. New sail-drives have been purchased and delivered and will be installed at the next haul out. A complete list of upgrades is listed in the attached inventory.

New sail-drives and rudder bearings installed in May 2023. New bottom paint in May 2023.

TOSCA is in Freeport, Bahamas and we would be delighted to show this truly groundbreaking design to motivated prospects.

Moxie 61 TOSCA was the elapsed and corrected time winner of the ARC Europe 2014.

  • Accommodations
  • Going fast isnt enough. Great comfort and high style are equally important. Racing technology thrives on the ultra-light and stripped-down concept. TOSCA is not a racer clad in cruising garb. It is a luxury cruiser worthy of it’s racing pedigree: a very fast yacht for the discerning sailor who wants high performance and style. The distinctive full beam coach roof of the Moxie 61 and it’s unique lines means more than good looks. It opens up unmatched living space in the cabins below. Between the spacious cabins, stylish salon, and the vast aft cockpit, life aboard is truly a haven of peace and comfort. Passengers enjoy privacy and generous personal space while the light weight of the yacht is not compromised.
  • Four elegant en-suite cabins are designed for comfort, complete privacy, and a good nights sleep, with plenty of space for clothing and personal items. Portholes bring light and fresh air into the cabins, creating an inviting retreat by day as well. Original artwork in each cabin add that extra personal touch – a home on the blue water, away from home.
  • All down lights are dimmable with Quick Italian style LED architectural fixtures. Circuits are split to create different moods and affects onboard.

Construction and Design

  • The engineering of the structure was done by VPLP Yacht Design based in France. The yacht was built by Jaz Marine Pty Ltd in Cape Town, South Africa. The construction is SP epoxy carbon core-cell foam in female tooling. Every layer has been vacuum bagged to reduce excess resin build-up and ensure a proper laminate bonding. SP Fairing compound is used and sprayed with Alexseal marine paint systems.
  • Stripped down to bare essentials, hull lines, rig, sail plan, and building material combine to define a boat. At Moxie Yachts all four components hail from the best racing tradition: ultra-light all-carbon construction, rotating carbon racing style wing mast, well aft for optimal performance, wing-like high aspect ratio, square top main sail, a complete carbon-specta sail wardrobe, and fluid hull lines to glide effortlessly over the waves.
  • Such a no-compromise design also presents a major challenge: how to make a true luxury vessel with spacious living quarters, modern amenities, and advanced systems while also keeping off unnecessary weight. This was VPLPs brief. Success on that front would redefine sailing. With its racing pedigree clad in stunningly beautiful lines, the Moxie 61 delivers.

Steering and Maneuvering

Alexis @ The Multihull Company

By Alexis @ The Multihull Company

Alexis grew up racing dinghies in the waters of Brittany, France. He immigrated to the United States as a young man and developed his interest in offshore cruising and racing in New England and the Bahamas. Alexis began his professional yachting career as a charter captain sailing the storied seas of French Polynesia on a Fountaine-Pajot Marquises 56 catamaran. There he developed a talent for sharing and communicating his love for bluewater sailing to his worldly guests. More recently, Alexis spent ten years managing Nautor’s Swan Charters, a high-end charter company with over fifty Swans based in the Caribbean, New England and the Mediterranean. While at Nautor’s Swan, Alexis coordinated sales of new yachts through the French defiscalisation program. He later instituted a successful yacht sales and management program to develop the fleet in non-French territories. This experience gave him substantial experience in the many facets of yacht sales and brokerage in the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. Alexis is bilingual English-French. He was educated in the United States and has worked in the US, Europe and the Caribbean. He has sailed extensively on multihulls and particularly enjoys performance cats.
