S/V Zarafet is a 1995 Prout 45, three-berth owner’s Version catamaran for sale by owner. She was designed to be the ultimate ocean-cruising catamaran in comfort and safety. Designed by David Feltham and built in 1995 by Prout Catamarans on Canvey Island. Zarafet is heavily customized as the ultimate liveaboard cruising machine with backups and duplicates for almost everything. She is solid fiberglass under the waterline, cored above the waterline, with Kevlar reinforcement. The original Prout Catamarans are renowned for their safety, load-carrying capabilities, reliability, ease of handling and comfort, and were designed for long-term liveaboard cruising and ocean passages.
The original owners of Zarafet sailed for 14 years, visiting 84 countries and hundreds of islands. She is designed to be easily handled by one person. Zarafet carried them safely and comfortably around the world, logging 60,633 nautical miles.
Port Hull Zarafet has a semi-custom interior layout based on the standard family version. The whole port hull is the owner’s stateroom with a fore and aft berth in the aft cabin, vanity, drawers and various lockers, with large hanging lockers in the aft cabin and mid-ships. Also an approximately 200 lt holding tank with gravity draining seacock system forward of collision bulkhead. Ship’s Laundry includes a top load automatic washing machine. Her ensuite head includes a shower with full standing headroom and electric head. The mid-ship area also contains a top-loading fridge/freezer.
A full-size chart table is in the bridge-deck saloon, just two steps from the cockpit. The saloon offers large, rectangular settees (for comfortable use while on passage) with seating for 9 or more surround a fold-out table which sits atop a pull-out bar unit. Looking forward of the salon is a cabin with full-size double berth and spacious lockers. Privacy can be ensured by use of a roller blind which can cover the bulkhead cut-out or alternatively attaches beneath the front windows to hide any gear stored in this area when the cabin is not being used. Access to this bunk is via steps in the forward starboard cabin.
Starboard Hull holds her galley which is midship and features a non-standard double shelf unit on the inboard side for stowage of crockery, mugs, glassware, etc. Aft of the galley is the main guest cabin with hanging locker, drawers, vanity and ensuite shower and head. Moving forward is access to the bridgedeck berth.
The Galley includes a built in pantry which has many storage lockers with microwave oven for convenience. For even more stowage, at the forward end is a hanging locker. Forward of the pantry is a sail locker accessed via a hatch on the foredeck.
