S/V ‘Meander’ is a Brisbane, Australia based 1996 Prout Escale 39 Catamaran for sale by owner. This Prout Escale is a sturdy, comfortable and very well equipped cruising catamaran which is well suited for worldwide cruising or coastal waters. She is very well maintained and goes to windward almost as well as any cruising monohull, tacking through 90 to 95 degrees

The UK Prout brothers launched the cruising catamaran industry in the early 70’s and their vessels became synonymous with seaworthiness, living comfort, and performance. The Escale 39 was proportionally wider and roomier than previous Prout designs with a length:beam ratio is about 2:1 making her more stable.

She is built for blue water cruising and is easily sailed by a couple as all sails can be handled without leaving the cockpit. This Prout catamaran design is very stable, with lots of space both below and above decks for kids. With lots of windows and a high elevation off the water, below decks doesn’t feel nearly as “cavelike” as traditional monohulls.

This girl has full head height and 180 visibility when standing in the saloon. With two statesrooms rather than three, this cat has a huge saloon area for entertaining.

The recently replaced roller furling cutter rig has all of the sail controls leading back to the cockpit to provide easy and drier handling in any conditions. A complete upgrade of technology onboard was completed in October 2020. Full antifoul was completed Oct/Nov 2020. She was last surveyed in April 2017.

Meander has taken us across the Atlantic twice and come home through the Pacific and took on all challenges with ease. She is built for blue ocean cruising and is kitted out with all the equipment for crossing oceans. To see our sail blog visit: Meander (sailblogs.com)
