S/V Noonsun is a 2009 ST Francis 50, hull #10. She has been our home for the last 15 months as we have sailed up and down the east coast of the US, across the Caribbean Sea, and now across the Pacific. Noonsun is currently in New Zealand.

The St Francis 50 offers improved speed, reduced transom immersion and turbulence, plus better motion characteristics, better looks, and more platform space, than it’s predecessor St Francis 48.

Noonsun had a full refit in 2018 and has been systematically updated ever since. She is outfitted for long distance sailing, sustainability and comfort. She is a sophisticated yacht with all the modern conveniences of a home and yet she is a passage-maker of note, capable of crossing oceans at an average of 200-plus nautical miles per day.  Her systems are easy to maintain.  This is a truly serious ocean voyager for serious sailors. No silly fly-bridge, no exposed helm on this cat.

S/V Noonsun sails extremely well, is sturdily built and easy to operate short-handed with lines led aft, electric winches and an electric-furling headsail.  Construction is cutting-edge technology: foam core, resin-infused, vinyl-ester is used throughout the layup. The St Francis 50 offers one of the largest cockpits available, and has a “U” shaped dinette on port with folding leaves which convert easily from a cocktail to dining table. There is additional seating on stbd just aft of the raised, but protected, helm station.

Additionally, she is shaft-driven, which means no problematic saildrives. Her two 75hp turbo Yanmar engines allow her to motor fast and efficiently, cruising at 6.5 kts on one engine and 8.5 kts on two.

Noonsun has a large inventory of spare parts for every system.  Please see below.
