A shortened rig for ICW clearance, $55,000 in upgrades and off-grid systems make this three-cabin cat a ready-to-go cruiser.
In her walkthrough of S/V Reunited, Valerie Toomey of The Multihull Company introduces a 2017 Lagoon 42 Owner Version that has been prepared with a clear purpose: blue-water cruising with a short-handed crew. The tour highlights more than $55,000 in upgrades, and several of them speak directly to the way this boat has been used.
The most consequential is the rig. The mast was shortened to allow ICW access — a meaningful convenience for anyone running the Intracoastal Waterway — and paired with a new roach mainsail that adds sail area back to help preserve performance. A self-tacking jib keeps day-to-day sailing simple for two, while an asymmetric spinnaker covers the downwind passages.

Deck, helm and cockpit
Forward, Valerie points out generous forepeak stowage plus two large deck lockers, along with complete ground tackle including both primary and secondary anchors. The elevated, fully enclosed helm gives good visibility with the lines led centrally to the driver. The cockpit is set up for living outdoors: ample seating for dining, a lounging area and an extra fridge. Aft are the dinghy davits, a spot for the barbecue and a fish cleaning station, with engine room access through the aft engine locker.
Interior layout
The salon is bright with 360-degree views, a nav station and a U-shaped galley with plenty of cold storage. The starboard hull is given over to the owner: generous storage, a washer/dryer, a workspace and a large head with a walk-in shower. To port, two guest cabins each have ensuite heads, with the forward cabin currently used for storage and direct access to the forepeak.

Off-grid capability
For extended time away from the dock, Reunited carries a watermaker, generator, solar panels and a lithium battery bank — the systems package that turns anchorage-hopping into genuine independence.
