S/V Perfect — the only 42 Maverick ever built.

This owner’s version has the most solar (2,125 W), lithium (1,400 Ah), and watermaking capabilities (two separate systems, 13 L and 40 L) of any pre-owned Maverick currently on the market. There is no need for marinas as you access secluded anchorages thanks to her 2 feet 9 inches draft; she is completely self-sufficient. If instead marina life is your desire, her Victron automatic isolation transformer seamlessly transitions to either 220 V or 110 V. Her 110 V heavy-duty marine electric cord completes the marina package.

Maverick catamarans are not hastily constructed, cruising-limited production cats. These South African vessels are built for passagemaking and liveaboard comfort. The build quality of this semi-custom boat has to be seen to be appreciated: superbly sturdy GRP construction, high-quality finishes, large-diameter stainless tubing, a well-designed and unique interior consistent with much larger boats, timeless décor, a head-turning exterior look, and an avid following. Redundancy is a key feature on S/V Perfect, from safety equipment to everyday living (two watermakers, two refrigerators, two freezers, etc.). She is a sturdy boat with a low profile that makes for a comfortable ride even in challenging seas. You feel secure and safe whether at the helm, working in the galley, or down below in the berths.

S/V Perfect is a proven bluewater cruiser with South African waters, an Atlantic crossing, and multiple Florida to South Caribbean and Central American passages to her credit. Our husband-and-wife crew has navigated eastward through the Bahamas twice, and in between we circled through Panama (San Blas to Bocas del Toro), San Andrés/Providencia, Belize (Placencia to Caye Caulker), Mexico (Isla Mujeres), and the United States (Key West to West Palm Beach), enjoying all points in between while upgrading and maintaining her into the vessel she is today. We hauled out in Florida in May 2026, so S/V Perfect has a recent bottom job (Interlux Micron CF antifoul), as well as a hull and transom wash, wax, and polish while on the hard. Annual diesel engine maintenance with a Volvo-certified mechanic was also completed, including an oil change, new oil filters, new fuel filters, new Racor filters, new coolant, new impellers, and new air filters. A full rigging tune and check was also completed, including installation of a new main halyard. She is looking, running, and sailing great.

After the previous (second) owners purchased S/V Perfect in Grenada, they sailed her back to the US, registered her with the USCG, paid US duty, and spent months in Saint Petersburg outfitting S/V Perfect for an off-the-grid lifestyle and that couple’s personal use. To take her off the grid, the custom solar arch was added in fall of 2021 with five bifacial LG panels, each with a dedicated charge controller, for a total of 2,125 W of solar power, and seven 200 Ah Kilovolt HLX IT lithium batteries. All are controlled through Victron’s Cerbo color display monitoring system. A Victron automatic isolation transformer connects to 110 V or 220 V shore power seamlessly.

The original owner had Maverick build S/V Perfect to support his love of scuba, equipping her with an onboard air compressor, as well as extra-wide sugar scoops and heavy-duty ladders to allow ease of access aft when handling dive tanks.
