We’ve sailed Zoom on the East Coast of the USA, the Caribbean and across the Pacific to Australia, and back to Fiji, where she is now. We’ve maintained and upgraded her every nautical mile of the way.

Electrical

The house bank is 800Ah of Victron Smart Lithium Batteries managed by a Victron Lynx Smart BMS, fed by multiple charging sources.
A 1.4kW solar array (six panels across three MPPT controllers), a Balmar high-output alternator regulated by a Wakespeed 500 Pro, and two Yanmar 85 amp alternators charge the engine start battery which then feed the house bank through dual Victron Orion DC controllers.
An Onan 9kw Generator fills the gaps along with an optional Watt & Sea Hydrogenerator.
A Victron 12/3000 inverter/charger provides 110V AC anytime and has a charger powered by the generator or with shore power.
A 220VAC / 110VAC Transformer allows shore power connectivity anywhere.
The result is a boat that runs refrigeration, a chest freezer, all house electronic needs, and a watermaker, without rationing power or running the generator on a schedule.
Only the Air con and Dive compressor require the generator.

Propulsion

The two Yanmar 4JH4AE engines are paired with SD60 saildrives that were replaced in 2020. Both engines were fully inspected and serviced in Feb 2026.
The Varifold three-blade folding propellers keep sailing performance clean while giving you real thrust under power.
With the fuel capacity of 880L and an average burn of 3 to 4 liters per hour at cruising speed means a long range between fuel stops.
The maintenance log shows the engines have been consistently serviced at required intervals and the newer saildrives have had their initial oil change along with a 250-hour interval schedule established, so their service baseline is documented and current.
Both engine rooms feature Fireboy automatic fire suppression systems and remote cameras to allow visual monitoring from the Nav Station.

Plumbing

All domestic water lines are PEX type hose and fittings that feed the galley, head sinks and showers, the washing machine, the aft deck shower and forward fresh water washdown hose.
The 2023 Seawater Pro watermaker produces over 150 litres per hour keeping the 1350L domestic water tanks topped off as needed.
There are two integral 675L tanks under the floors and above the keels to keep weight low.
Each tank has its own Sea-Flo pressure actuated pump which provides redundancy.
A 30L Isotherm water heater can provide hot water throughout the boat.
Water is heated from the port engine when running, or with 110V via solar (the Inverter), the genset or shore power.
Two separate black water tanks are located in the keels with deck hose fittings and macerator pumps connected to dedicated thru-hull fittings.
The propane for cooking gas and BBQ is in a dedicated vented locker on the port forward deck and all lines are hard copper per AS/NZS standards with an electric solenoid switch at the tank and a leak sensor alarm.
All heads are Jabsco with electric macerator flush.
The saltwater deck/anchor washdown is powered by a Jabsco pressure actuated pump.

Steering

New custom St Francis rudders with full 70mm (2-3/4”) diameter stainless steel shafts and new rudder bearings were installed in 2022 for preventative maintenance.
The hydraulic steering system features a Lecomble-Schmit helm pump actuating two rams (one on each rudder) along with a Raymarine autopilot controlling an electric hydraulic pump.
The P70 control head is new in 2020 and was serviced under warranty in 2022.
The L&S hydraulic ram seals were serviced in 2023 providing peace of mind when offshore.

Rigging & Sails

The mast was lifted, serviced and fitted with all new standing rigging in Feb 2026 including 12mm Dyform cap shrouds and headstay, 10mm 1x19 lowers and new diamonds.
The rig is ready for another 10 years of sailing.
All halyards are 12mm Dyneema core replaced in 2024.
Genoa sheets are Dyneema core new in 2023.
Mainsail reefing lines new in 2024 are 12mm Dyneema core with added Dyneema chafe covers at high wear points.
The sail inventory covers the full range: a 2023 Quantum Hydra-Net mainsail, a 2022 Quantum furling genoa, a Code Zero on furler, an asymmetric spinnaker with sock, and a storm jib that sets on a removable inner headstay.
The original genoa is stored below and is in good condition as a backup.
Two Lewmar electric 65ST self tailing primaries with dual controls handle the main halyard and sheeting requirements, along with two Lewmar 46ST self tailing cockpit winches for the furling lines, preventer and additional sheet capacity.
Two mast mounted 46ST self tailing winches are used for the downwind sail halyards and reefing — a layout that lets a short-handed crew manage sail changes without drama.

Ground Tackle

The primary anchor is a Rocna 40kg (88 lb) with a stainless Ultra Marine swivel connected to 90 meters (300’) of 10mil (3/8”) chain new in 2026.
This is backed by a 25kg (55 lb) Sarca #7 with 10meters (33’) of 10 mil (3/8”) chain and 60 meters (200’) of 19mm (3/4”) 3 Strand Nylon Rode.
An aluminium Fortress FX 16 with 10meters (33’) of 10 mil (3/8”) chain and 60 meters (200’) of 19mm (3/4”) Braided Nylon provides additional backup and can also be utilized for a stern anchor.
So we carry a genuine three-anchor system.
The Maxwell 2200 windlass was fitted with a new gypsy in 2026.
Operated from the helm using the Maxwell Auto Anchor remote control with chain counter display, or by deck switches at the anchor locker giving you flexibility when anchoring.
The 22mm (1”) 3 strand nylon bow bridle fits to custom connecting points at the crossbeam mounts transferring the loads to a reinforced area with backing plates.
A stainless steel chain hook provides easy on/off foolproof connection to the chain.
Additional long warps, shackles and chafing gear are all part of the kit.
Two custom 22mm (1”) 3 strand nylon mooring lines can connect to the same anchor connecting points on the bow for secure tie up to moorings with a bridle arrangement.

Navigation & Comms

The Raymarine backbone connects an e-105 chartplotter through dual i70 instrument displays, dual hull-mounted depth transducers, masthead wind instruments, speed/log, and an RD418HD 4kW color radar— everything feeding a common network providing full situational awareness at the helm or at the nav station.
Two separate GPS receivers provide position redundancy to the backbone.
The Raymarine AIS with send/receive capability has a dedicated GPS receiver and has its own power source with the ability to stay on when other systems are powered down or ‘ghost’ for security if needed.
A Starlink mini provides primary high speed internet connectivity and is backed up by an Iridium Extreme satellite phone for voice, text or data transmissions.
The Iridium mounts in a cradle with an external antenna for superior reception.
A local wi-fi network connects the Iridium to your device in the event starlink service is not available. It can also be easily removed from the cradle for portability in an emergency.
An Icom IC-M604 VHF is mounted in the nav station with a command mic at the helm.
Additionally an Icom IC-M802 SSB is on board but not currently in use.
This combination means you're connected with redundancy which matters when you're mid-ocean and need a weather report or want to communicate with the outside world.
Dual depthsounders including one with bottom contour and fish finder provide redundancy as well as security when navigating shallow or narrow passes.

Safety starts with having a proper ocean capable platform – the SF 50 provides that with its overall design, superior construction and engineering details.
Put her side by side to most mass produced catamarans and you’ll immediately see the difference.
In the event of an emergency Zoom is fully equipped.
Rule # 1: Stay on board at all times.
To ensure that, a full kit of Spinlock 170N Inflatable PFDs with integral harness are all fitted with personal AIS and laser flares.
Also included are Wichard double tethers (short and long) and clips with quick release at the vest end.
The Wichard reflective jacklines create a secure connection between crew and deck.
A Jonbouy MK 5 Recovery module (mini-raft, not just a horseshoe) has an inflating tripod tower with lifting ring and strobe to ensure a successful recovery if ever needed.
The Raymarine E-105 has an MOB feature and will also automatically pick up the personal AIS signal from the vests as they are tied to Zoom’s MMSI.
A new ACR GlobalFix V-5 EPIRB means you have a dependable distress beacon on a bluewater passage.
In addition there are three more EPIRBs as backups.
The Iridium Extreme satellite phone can be set up to uplink a position and track at specified intervals and is an independent comms path that doesn't depend on Starlink.
The ACR RapidDitch bag is fully stocked including a spare SOLAS med kit. (see details for a full list of contents).
The 8 man Viking liferaft is packed in a solid valise and is in cert.
Flares are fully stocked and in a proper waterproof offshore container.
A Matrix gas detector for cooking gas / propane, keeps the cabin safe, an Automatic Fireboy fire suppression systems in both engine compartments handle the scenario you never want to manage manually.
A full Adventure Marine Med Kit is on board and a Philips HeartStart AED round out a safety inventory that reflects serious offshore use rather than checkbox compliance.

The foam cored GRP structure underpins everything and construction and engineering details are a top priority starting with quality of layup, proper bulkhead tabbing, and a lightweight but structural fit out that is well above typical production yachts.

Her non skid deck is moulded and easy underfoot yet secure.
All deck fittings have been monitored and re-bedded as needed.
The Lewmar ocean hatch gaskets, hinges and hardware have been carefully maintained and recently fitted with all new Perspex/Acrylic lenses that show as new with no evidence of leaks.
The Flexiteek decking on the transom area and in the cockpit and helm area is easily mistaken for real teak.
It is both durable and beautiful.
Her original gel coat has withstood the test of time and continues to buff out to a beautiful shine.
