2023 Nautitech 44 Open: Bluewater-Ready Cat, Barely Used

A nearly new four-cabin catamaran built to erase the line between cockpit and saloon.

Broker Zee Kalinic steps aboard S/V Double Memory, a 2023 Nautitech 44 Open, and quickly makes the case for why this cruising catamaran has earned such a loyal following among bluewater sailors. “Almost brand new,” as Zee puts it, this four-cabin, two-head layout is set up for serious passages while still feeling like a comfortable floating home.

Why They Call It “Open”

The name isn’t marketing fluff. The saloon and cockpit flow into one another through a wide sliding arrangement, so under way — or at anchor with the sun down — the entire living area functions as a single great room. At the heart of it sits a Corian-topped galley with dual sinks, freezers within arm’s reach, and an intuitive prep layout that keeps the cook connected to the conversation happening in the cockpit dining area.

To port, an L-shaped settee handles breakfast for two or three and doubles as a foul-weather skipper’s perch during long crossings. Just forward of it, a proper nav desk carries a B&G plotter that also monitors batteries, tank levels, bilges, and lighting — with watermaker controls close at hand. Zee is clear that the boat is “blue water equipped and very self-sustainable,” with a full equipment list available with the listing.

Living Spaces and Cabins

A secondary fridge sits within the saloon so nobody has to trek to the galley for a cold drink. A generous L-shaped dinette accommodates the whole crew, and a facing sofa turns the space into what Zee calls “the most used place on the boat.” The four-cabin arrangement — two heads, four showers — makes her equally suited to owner-operator cruising or hosting guests on longer trips.

Sailing and Deck

The Nautitech 44 Open uses twin aft helms, each with its own B&G plotter, wind instrument, engine controls, and a Quick chain counter. A large cleat sits right next to the wheel, letting a shorthanded crew handle lines and dockings without leaving the helm — and the sugar scoops are just two steps away. Twin Volvo diesels sit beneath the cockpit sole.

Forward, twin trampolines and two sets of cushions create a proper lounging zone with a small table. Wide, easy steps lead to the coachroof for straightforward mainsail handling. Aft, davits carry a 10-hp tender shaded by the solar array — a tidy, self-contained system for cruising off-grid.

Where the Market Sits

The Nautitech 44 Open has been a steady seller in the bluewater cat segment, and buyer interest has clearly perked up recently.
